CX Photos

Weeeeeeeeeee

Saturday was a very early start for the 2007 CX season, too early for me, coming off a few rest weeks and little to zero efforts, combined with stifling heat, led to a painful day. I was DFL in the 35+A group, with a few laps in the top 3 at the start, at least i was not over the edge in the beginning, about 25 minutes in my body started to get all tingly, backing off to avoid heat stroke seemed reasonable. My HR progressively went up, while my speed went the opposite direction, check it out.

Lyna had a tough race with the Mistress, she was able to pull away in the end for the W in women's A's.

The highlight of the day had to be Climb-Ums split open forehead in season 2 of the Skinny Cyclists play football misadventure.

Sunday was another 'Group' Ride in PC. Chad, Ron, Warren, Shannon, Drew and Jim were the males contingent. Lyna, TC and Jenny were the females, early on the ladies decided they had enough of us males. So Chad led us on another bushwhacking adventure. It has been awhile since I had to lie my belly on my saddle, while hoping my rear wheel doesn't do a 'Sherwin' on my ass. If you are one who has been complaining about the dumbing down of the Pipeline and Temple Quarry, head up to PC and hit some of the Spur trails off of the beaten paths to get your skill building on.

3 hours ride time and 4.5 hours after leaving the car we returned, satisfied. SO much for an easy week.

Thanks Chris E! Now I am ready for CX!

Where did the week go

Saturday 8/11, PC 3 hour ride with Shannon B, Brian, Ty and Theresa.

Sunday 8/12, A whole lot of nothing, except brunch at eggs in the city, grocery, cooked dinner, packed.

Monday 8/13, flew to Boston.

Thursday 8/16 1:30 am MST, wake up to catch flight home to SLC. flight lands 10am, home and run some errands. OH YEAH 10 year anniversary, except Lyna has commitment from 7-8. She also found out she was a runner up in PUA's pit contest that day.

Friday 8/17, no workie, Lyna's name in lights I am quite sure i have never been in the MTB round up. Went and hung out at the shop and went and road a lap of the Stan Crane course in Draper. It was hot, dry, sandy and loose. That night off to Akasaka fro Sushi for Nathan's b-day, then to his and Cami's house for cake.

Saturday 8/18 supposed to do 2-3 hours up in PC, pouring rain on the mountain cam, change oo plans, 2 hours in Draper. We get to the parking lot and it is spitting on and off, every one shows up it rains harder and lets up, we take off, rain starts getting heavier, we get just a bit up clarks trail and determine, the mud was too bad, we turn around and head towards the golf course and the trails were awesome, the weather broke and the ride ended up super fun, we climbed up the new singletrack by the air park cut off till it ended, back down, out to the air park and then back down to the pool, down the finish of the XC course and back to the cars. It was Lyna's first mtb ride since the day after Evanston, Ty, Steve, Jim, Shannon, Drew and George where there as well.

tomorrow is 2-3 in PC on Buff trails, yeaaaaaahhhh

She almost won

Lyna entered Pua's pit contest a few weeks back, the winner was announced today, she did not win, but she did get mentioned as a runner up.

I went to Outdoor Retailer today, holy crap, that shit is not fun. I felt like i was in hell.

All Time Winnings

In the last week i have more than doubled my all time Bike Racing winnings. I feel like a real professional now.

Saturday I got 20 bucks for second place. Last night I got 150 for 3rd overall for the solitude series. That brings the all time winnings to 320 bucks, I should quit my job, buy a van and go pro, or not.

The Solitude series was awesome. The overall winner in expert took home 375 BUCKS, male and female.

I got a sweet pair of sandals a few other nice raffle prizes earlier in the year and Lyna won 100 bucks for third place overall sport (she only did 3 of the 6 races)

Next year they are looking to have more races, same deal, sponsor cash starts the pot, then it is 100% of entry fees into the pot for payout for expert and sport. Great raffle prizes and fun course.

Thanks Jay and Scott.

I wonder if the IRS knows about my winnings?

Wolverine Ridge

I really didn't want to name the post that, but what else would I. Seems i get a lot of hits for people searching Wolverin in Eastern Europe.

Whatever. I was looking forward to the race. The only problem is that it means the season, at least the icup season, is over. Well, it is just time to get ready for CX.

I was really looking for a win this year, having come so close several times, I was feeling fit and rested. We had a pretty good sized group at the start, more than 10. Paz was there. To hold onto the season championship I needed to stay within one finisher of him, so winning would do that, right?

Jay Petervary was there, he won the GDR earlier this year, so he would either be going fasst with fitness or not. Jay took off from the start, this is how he won Deer Valley in 2006 and done well in other Icup races, I got on his wheel, he hesitated where the course split for the finish singletrack, so i got around him. I got to drop to the bridge in 1st, wich was nice, cause i was worried about what the rain had done to it. Jay got around me right before the lap area, but I stayed on his wheel. About 10 minutes in Paz was with us, him and Jay went through the techy rough sections faster, but i caught on them on the wide open section before the Service road climb, We were pretty close on the service road, Jay then Paz then me, Jay had to dismount a few times on the steep singletrack, i got around him towards the top, Paz was outa there. Jay caught back on me descending the road towards Deadmans. Paz was still off the front. Chad W.(pro) caught back up to me and we worked together to push through the lap area, as a result I got around Jay right at the neutral feed area, I rode with Brock Cannon(ex19-29) for a while and got into the steep singletrack before him, he seemed to want to power up it, as apposed to me wanting to spin so he went on. I was pushing it on the DH, cause i did not want anyone to catch me, Rob W (40+) caught on me and we stayed together up and over deadmans and on towards the lap area, he dropped me a bit, but then i almost went OTB at 25mph and an adrenaline rush got me back on him, then I saw Newby coming and pushed it quite a bit in heading up to the return route. Rob W got around me when I took a corner too wide, but I ended up holding onto second in the race.

Lyna had an awesome race for second, she had tire issues pre-race that kept her worried the whole time.

I ended up with the series championship, nice since is my last time in 30-39, 40+ here I come, let Rob W start whoopin my ass.

Lyna ended up with the sport women season championship, she feels bad, Jenelle had it sealed, but was sick for the final weekend.

Team Revolution got the Series Championship trophy back, which is awesome.

Great year for everyone on the team and another great ICUP season. Ed is a master at his craft, keeping it fair, fun and well organized. I don't know why I would ever choose another race or series over this one, great competition, great courses and great leadership. Good course markings, timely, correct results and consistent prizes. If you do not live in Utah, you need to come try these on for size. Oh yeah, at least for now, you don't need a Norba license to race either.

PC Perfect 10 Photos

PC Perfect 10

I was support again. The course was fun, for a lap or 2, but 800+ feet of climbing per 4.25 mile lap adds up over time. Lyna did awesome, she was hanging with the Xfusion/Kenda pro rider for 5 or 6 laps, not even knowing that was the winning spot, she faded a bit, but ended up in second, her and Drew'Diesel' rode together for most of the race, encouraging each other through the rough spots. Drew took 4th in solo men, Jerry took 3rd.

I will have some photos up tonight.

Friday i went to do my 10 minute effort, did it up Big Cottonwood, was 8 minutes in on the storm mountain steep section and felt like i was having a heart attack, finished it up and took me 20 minutes to feel normal, the rest of the ride was un-eventful.

Thursday on the Shoreline

Slightly cooler temps got me to go ride my shoreline loopy last night. The trail was in good shape, I saw maybe 8 other riders out htere, including Dr X. Had a nice chat with him.

Work craziness is about to be complete. Thank goodness, this weekend we do the complete Data Center Cutover to Texas. The preparation has been maddening, the clean up next week willbe rough, but the meat is done.

No races this week for me, kind of odd. Lyna is doing the 10 hour thing Saturday. Looks like I will be able to support her and others, I also need to get 3 hours of bike time in.

Nice Camera Phone photo from last night

I'm going to Jackson, I'm gonna mess around.

We got married in a fever....

4 days in Jackson, Teton village area, good times. Ty, Erika, Chad, Ron, Kary and Ramsey. Friday was a pre-ride of the Taming the Tetons course, Saturday A.M. was the race. My first lap and even the second, I felt sluggish, no desire to push, then I finally woke up, pushed it and caught up to Paz, he still beat me though, some Colorado hairy legged altitude freak won. Lyna rode a super strong race after a not so good pre ride, she lost contact with 3rd place while letting pro's around her (she is learning, don't get off your bike) Almost beat 3rd at the lne though in a sprint, maybe 20 more feet she would of been able to do it.

Saturday night we all went to the Mangy moose to see some rockabilly band, was pretty fun, the Bull Elk met some girl from California.

Sunday, Ramsey and Kary guided us in their 30 year old raft down the Snake River, The lone casualty was my Peak Fasteners hat. Charlie (the girl Chad met the night before) went with us and pretty much spent the rest of the weekend with us. After rafting we went to have burgers and then just chilled at the condo.

Monday, Lyna and I drove around Teton National Park a bit, took some photos and ccame home.

Photos will be added later.

Great trip.

3 weeks in a row

Always a bridesmaid...

I really had a great race, my time was over 6 minutes faster than last year, lap times were 22,23,24,24, 4th lap was actually 17 seconds faster than 3rd, even with lots of lapped traffic to get around. I fed well, paced well and went down the evil moon dust DH well, Paz charged hard at the end and got by me with less than 5 minutes left in the race, he got me by 16 seconds. SO I lead for much longer and made very few mistakes. that course is brutal, yet I like it.

Fox brought the Techno beats, some good cheering and laughs. Lyna had a good race, taking 15 minutes off of last year, even though she spent hours on our roof the past week in 100+ degree temps.

Went to Porc Grille with BZ, Elena, Beano, Pepe' afterwards, mmmm good sandwich.

9 minute warm up, 15 minute effort

Yeah, usually, that does not work so well. Thursday night I went up to PC, or DV to be exact, to put my 50 dollar crit plate to its second use. Although I left the plate at home, I got there, warmed up for under 15 minutes, signed up, went off at 6:09, 15:19 later i thought i was gong to die, but i got a good work out in, afterwards, Rob S, Heather H and I did some exploring, ended up on some bumpy, rocky, rutted road that spit us out on the road to Kamas. Nice cool down. 3rd place in the B's, not so bad for no warm up and only knowing 1/2 the route. Plus Franken-Trek probably weighs 20 pounds. Wattage was good to.

I liked the hill climb, nice grades, can keep it in the big ring for a lot of it, low key, Gallagher mentioned getting the OK for a Heber Fair Grounds CX race/ clam bake early cx season, Nice.

Snowbird fun tomorrow, they may have got some rain up there to put the dust down, I doubt it though.

second

2 weeks in a row of leading most of the race, this week i led for over 75% of it, my lap times were consistent, i fed and drank ok, but probably not enough. Tim had a stellar ride charging hard at the end. It was dry and dusty and oh, yeah, HOT. 1:30 race time is no good, Kathy you are nuts to like it. Lyna got her first top 3 in sport and missed the ceremony. She was feeding me at the time. The grille was not grilling when the Pro/Experts got done, so i waited till SLC to eat.

I am amazed my lap times were so consistent, cause those last 2 laps I felt completely blown. My HR was through the roof, heat and lack of recovery DH will make that happen.

Warren, I gave you the double bird.

Got up early this am to do the crest with the Redrock gang, they shuttled and rode to a friends house in Sugarhouse, I turned around part way down Big Water when I ran into Lyna, she turned around at the spine and we met up at REI later. Nice and cool up there, but it was a zoo of people, funny thing was after the spine on my way back to Guardsmans, I only ran into like 4 people, weird.

Solitude Report

Well, I was hoping for a State Championship, but a few things and 1 person got in the way of that this weekend.

The start was relatively soft, no one went too hard, except for the SLC-Samurai I just settled into a pace for th long, steep in sections climb. I got around the Samurai right before the single track at the top of the climb. Tim got around him somewhere on the descent and we were running 1-2 at this point, I was feeling good and proceeded to Flail around out of control in an energy wasting manner for the rest of the race. I was all over the place on the Serenity Climb on lap 2 and 3, I had to dismount at least 4 times on climbs cause I was a fool, Paz, the eventual winner caught me on the 2nd lap descent, came around me, and put gap on me. I caught on to him at the round house on lap 3, and here is mistake number 367. I let him pull me to the last steep section, I should of tried and drop him, Mistake number 368 was when he asked about 200 feet vertical from the top how many were in front of us, and I told him the truth, stupid. Mistake number 369 was the bobble on the steep loose stuff t the top, he got around me and my wussy DH'ing together with his crazed DH'ing pretty much lot the race for me. SO on the last 1/2 lap I rode serenity smooth and cleared everything, too little, too late. I still DH'd like a wuss and had to take a few risks to hold of big travel Ohran by 7 seconds for 2nd.

It was a good race though, big mistakes, a few tactical and more technical, still took second.

Lyna raced well and cut off 5 minute from 2006 time, this is with her still being fatigued from the 12 hour race.

We are getting anew roof, last week was the tear off and the dust we breathed all week likely prepared us for the dry dusty trails, yeah thats it.

Shredding the 'Shed

Hooked up with KDay, Skid and Kevin at the MillD lot, road up to Guardsman and Puke Hill, down the spine, desolation back to cars, we passed a lot of shuttlers, who left to go up to guardsman before we started pedaling, and even though I DH like a feather, we passed lots of guys on their big travel fun bikes, while we were on hardtails, cept for skid. Fun ride for sure. Gain over 2500 feet in 8 miles, go kind of flat with a few hundred extra feet of climbing for 3 or so miles then loose 2500 feet in 4 miles, yeah.

Tuesday night was the first Solitude weekly worlds, nice turnout and fun course. I tried for the hole shot, got most of the way there till Alex, BZ, Fox and Brandon had enough and came around me right before the singletrack, not bad for me if I say so myself. Like the roller coaster.

Back to normal (if i ever could be)

So hit the big water, great western to crest back down then up to dog lake today, nice 3 hour, uncrowded cruise in the alpine. Ran into Alex Grant and his buddy Ty who just finished a too PC/ eat breakfast/ back to mill creek ride. I rode Ty's Taurine as my bike is in the shop. I liked the way it rides, but I like my terra logic lefty better, maybe his rebound is different than mine, who knows.

Yesterday was the 12 hour of the E100. Lyna's first ever attempt at an all day ride, I think I was more nervous than her, I yelled at her Friday night to tell her to sit the %&$# down and let me pack everything. I mean my intentions were good. Well we each got like 5 hours of sleep (Me cause I had work stuff going on, her due to nerves) Jerry showed up at 5:20, we put his bike on the rack and Headed up to Round Valley. The day was long, and hot and I think I am more wrecked from supporting than i would be if I raced it (on a 4 person team).

Lyna rode incredibly well. She did 8 laps, around 80 miles, she came in with time to go out for 9, but she made a decision that likely saved her a few extra weeks of recovery. I can't say how proud of her I am. She has some serious stick-to-itive-ness. Food was the big issue, nothing seemed good to her, i kept trying to force food down her, to no avail, she probably got in less than 75% of what she needed. How she made it through is a mystery to me.

Brad P. tore it up for 12 laps and the solo win, just incredible, Rich missed the start by a bit and spent 85% of the race in 2nd or 3rd. He made a wise decision and did not go out on lap 12. I think there would of been an ambulance involved if he did go out again. I think he lost close to or more than 10% of his body weight.

Carl from teh shop worked wonders on everyones bikes, Peak Fasteners owner (Scott Hoggan and wife) and their team won the coed 4 person. Fox and Zep just missed the win, but both rode super impressive. The Revolution/DNA compound had 2 podiums on the 4 man team category and 2 podiums on the coed duo category.

Days highlights
1. Lyna riding the whole race, and able to walk around afterwards.
2. Riding lap 5 or 6 with Lyna, I poached the course on Ty's bike, and helped her through, she was still ripping the DH.
3. Carl's help
4. Brad's win
5. Rich's effort
6. Zeps look after his first lap. Classic.

Just Minutes in

Yeaahhhh

The Compound

11 hours later, good job baby doll

I am hoping that Rich is not thinking "Get that Bleeping Camera outa my face BoB"

Impressive (He collapsed and almost fainted about 30 seconds later)

I think the rest of Adams fluids escaped him with this expenditure of energy, cause 5 minutes after this he was laying on the ground talking to a first aide guy.(Shoulda got a photo of that :))

DV NMBS

My start this morning, I believe is a picture of the future of the NMBS, only 6 expert 35-39'ers. Sad.

I started feeling a bit under the weather Friday, tried to ignore it. Never hit race pace, but was in the front with one other guy, we had a few minutes after one lap. I tried to go to race pace the second time up little stick and my body said no, I DNF'd cause i didn't want to prolong the bug.

Came home and slept for 6 hours.

Kind of a bitch to have the form but no luck. At the cul de sac climb, the guy in my group was right in front of me, he was out of the saddle suffering and groaning, i was in the saddle, not breathing hard, thinking to myself, well a win is a win, sick trumps that though.

The Intermountaincup is much more important anywho. Just wish I would of saved the 52 bucks.

DV XC

My first peak race, loss of hours during the week due to rain, maybe no such a bad thing, Nice intervals with BP on Wednesday down in Draper.

SO 30 Pro's lined up in front of me today. Including Chad who moved up, another day of depressing move ups, cause I liked trying to catch him. Nevermind, we had over 20 in 30-39 anyways including Climber Zenger, Jason Travis and Isaac Wilson. I also new Wimmer was going to be going strong.

10 seconds in, at the front, feeling ready, pop, my chain goes from the middle ring to the Bottom Bracket, I didn't shift or anything, crap. Took me a bit of time to get it on again, by the time I was back on the bike, the whole field was by the feedzone, I almost quit at this point. But i kept going pushing hard on the climbs recovering on the DH, I got around a lot of people on the rest of the first lap, still more by the end of the second lap. I then dropped a few people up little stick the 3rd time. In the end I cam in 5th 1.5 minutes off the winner (Wimmer).

Who knows what would of happened without the dropped chain, I was less than 30 seconds of 3rd and 4th, I think. I feel good as I pushed on and pretty much gave the group a 45 second head-start, had to pass a crap load of t[people on singletrack through rough stuff and still finished top 5. That is still satisfying.

Lyna had a great race for 6th only 4 minutes behind the winner, she was really, really nervous about it, DV has been unkind in the past, It was kind today.

After we stopped at SugarHouse park to watch the Pro 1/2 crit, Louder made it look easy.

Big week

13.5 hours, 3 races and some decent results.

After the Stan Crane Memorial, I was hurting 2.5 hours at effort are rough, so Wednesdays mid week race on the Icup course was brutal, not at all recovered. Took Thursday off and rode easy on Friday and still woke up nervous about the Sundance Spin. Jarom Zenger and Isaac Wilson showed up, Jarom in his first 2007 come climb out legs off appearance and WIlson probably getting ready to ride up Everest or some shit. The start saw IndOhran go off the front, he claims later it was cause he didn't want to breathe ou dust due to bronchitis, i told him to go to the doctor. SO much for my share of Fox's 100 bucks. About halfway throuh the race I was hovering near 10th place, I think, it is kind of fuzzy, then I started my charge on the last lap, I got around Fred on the last part of the climb and put quite a gap on him, he closed on the descent as he probably got some better lapper passing lanes, I fizzled about halfway up the pavement to hold on to 5th, ouch.

Saturday was Team Shannifer's celebration BBQ, good times.

Sunday was low motivation day, needed 2.75 hours on bike, didn't want to road bike it, partner bailed and then unbailed on a DV pre-ride, too late, I headed out for shoreline solo, ran into Bart who talked me into hitting millcreek with him and fox, turned around at the Dog Lake trail head, cause I had to log into work (which failed to happen) wish I could of headed up to the crest with them, in hindsight I could of. I'd be even more tired now, for some reason, except for the very top, I felt it necessary to stick with Bart, not at max, but hard enough day after race, got 6 miles of dirt in for a 40 mile ride, saw Team Rico briefly as I was entering dirt.

DV looms in the distance, I love that course, 2 weekends in a row, Yeah

Photo Stolen from here

Oh Yeah, lest I forget, she is no longer a HARLOT, now she is A LOT, that right there is some funny shit.

Recap of the race - Stan Crane Memorial

See post below for Stan's story.

The morning started out quite early, wanting to get to the race and unload all the BBQ stuff in enough time to warm up.

Got a decent warm up in and got to the start line. The Expert 30-39 group was rather giddy seeing that BP and Rich A moved up. I told Chad, joking of course, that he was next. The start was safer than i feared, Racer took a flyer, by the first short double track, i got around everyone except Chad, climbed halfway up the first long climb in second, when Scott Allen came around me. Ryan A and another rider were close behind me, part way down Clarks descent, a bug flew into my helmet, a bit later it bit me, it still hurts.

At the start of the second lap i saw Scott right ahead and I was closing on him, Ryan caught onto me but I gained on him on the long climb. He came back close to me going up the 3rd lap climb, but I dug deep to get over the top, ended up hanging on for 3rd. I was blown at the end, check this photo with me in the background after finishing. Oh yeah, shannon tried to take me out at the finish, but he suceeded in taking him self out:)

Some photo evidence.

Lyna smiles after ripping it for 6th place.

Fox killed the tweety bird chair. THE HORROR

Kday and Sday (my feedzone savior) oh yeah, there's the guy that tried to take me out to.

She is a HARLOT.

Stan Crane

I stole this from Rich, hope he doesn't mind, race recap later.

Early last year Bp, Reed, Stan Crane and I went on a training trip to St. George. We put in some big miles on the Mesa near Hurricane and the next day rode the area around the St. George race course. The whole trip was filled with laughing and chit-chat about everything, but especially bike racing. Stan was getting serious -- devotedly following a training schedule, reading books on training, even switching to soy milk because Carmichael said it was healthier. He legs were trunks and his fitness was looking good.

A couple weeks later Stan was dead.

It wasn't anything he did or didn't do. He was born with a time-bomb that could tick so many times and then bang -- wife alone, boys with no dad. Lots of people get this same treatment due to unfortunate choices they or someone else makes, but in his case it was the mistake of a little segment of DNA encoding some protein a little wrong even before he was exactly a person yet -- the product of an imperfect world. Or something like that.

I don't think Stan looks back on his life and remembers cycling first and foremost as there were several other, higher priorities. He was a man that knew his priorities. Nonetheless, I'm sure he appreciates the fact that today, on Memorial day, we raced the Stan Crane Memorial race in Draper, in view of his final resting place.

His family was there, his best friends were there, and who knows? Maybe he was too. I like to think so.

Stan Crane Memorial PreRide

<<----That is Stan, rippin the DH at Snowbird in 2005, the race is in his honor, so come on out, his family and friends will all be there.

The course is good, don't let the haters fool you, it has a little bit of everything. fire road climbs, fast buff descents, slow sandy descents, BBQ alley, road crossings and a few water crossings.

Yep, i like the fire road climb, and it is likely the race will be made here. BIG RING IT.

Racing a course that does not suit your strengths makes you harder and stronger, don't complain, rip it up! We ride bikes worth thousands, we are not victims, we are blessed with family, friends and various levels of ability.

Last night we had a large group out there on the course, from pro's to baggy short wearing rigid ss'ers, to 8 year old kids, awesome.

I have been following the Bear Lake result issue, man what a mess, I feel sorry for everyone, racers, officials, promoters etc.. there does not seem to be a good way out, of course team Telekom has found a way out,

See ya all on Monday.

Yep, that is how my race went, 20 minutes in, Dura Ace goodness, Crank Brothers tool that worked mostly, finally Fox fixed it for me, he shows me trying from his blog.

I felt good at the point I balled the chain up, started the race in the front, once i got around the single speeder, not pushing too hard, Rich got around me, I stayed with him, with Brad on my wheel, Brad got around me then i bogged down on the steep up and Chad got around me. II then shifted too late going up a steep and heard crunching chain, got back on road awhile, Fred got by me, skipping sounds in the drive train, Still pushing, but thinking of close to 2 more hours of annoying shifting issues, Ryan gets by me, close to the singletrack climb, where I can power the chain breaks, 20 minutes later Fox fixes it and I head back to the start area.

I kind of had a positive glimpse of my fast coming back, that is good.

Today Jerry and I road up Mormon Pioneer and down towards East Canyon resort and back, fun DH, nice climbs.

Resty Resty

So had a nice weekend of riding and chillin.

Friday after work, I headed down to the Corner Canyon area to ride the Stan Crane Memorial Race course, Wow that is going to be a rough one for everyone. Close to 1300 feet of climbing in the first 4 miles of a 9.5 mile lap, followed by a fun 1.5 mile or so downhill on clarks trail, it then rolls a bit on the shoreline trail before crossing the street a dh'ing through the golf course on a skinny exposed trail with a very tight switchback midway down, it then crosses another street and drops down between peoples back yards to highland drive for a .75 mile grind back to the start finish. I did 2 very slow laps in the heat of the evening and it leaves me wondering what sadism Ed has in store for us memorial day, 3 laps will be brutal. Here is the elevation profile of 2 laps, I got kind of turned around on the first lap.

Saturday i was planning on a road ride up to big mountain, as i decided to bag Lava Rama. I got out the door around 11 or so, just so it would heat up enough for me. I needed to do a 10 minute effort and failed after 7 minutes, still feeling the effects of whatever hit me Wednesday and Thursday, made it a bit above Affleck park before i headed home. Ran into Chan on the way to the start of Emi canyon. Saw Stormin heading up the canyon, saw BZ and chatted for a while in the construction zone, then saw Jen a the mouth of the canyon.

Saturday night was a nice dinner at y 'bosses' (she hates it when i call her that, but she is) her and my former bosses were in town for the week and wanted to see us all, we had 10 former employees (including Lyna) and 3 current ones there, it was nice and fun and kind of sad, reminded me of how the place used to be more of a family. 9 years of my life so far, that is a long time.

Sunday i headed up to PC to meet with Krachty to do a few hours on the Glenwild trail system, we climbed the front side, dropped down the north side and took a left on Cobblestone, we then took the new trail and it climbed and climbed and climbed and climbed, we then started descending and ended up on the 24-7 connector, happy in the knowledge that we just found out about more trails miles of fun and relative solitude. Here is a link to the ride info. After the ride in the parking lot we ran into Pepe, The Deer Mouse and FOF Ron, who I had no idea was in town. They all gave me shit for not calling them. I then came home and napped, did a bit of yard work and then watched the Return of the King for the 50th time and grilled Garlic, Jalapeno burgers and corn on the cob for dinner.

Yep, my life sucks, really it does.

Bobby feely no goody

So Wednesday night head up to BZ's house to sort out Team Revolution/Peak Fastener 2007 uniforms, 4 slap happy hours later, we get it done. At this point, I realize I feel feverish and sleepy, get home and to bed around midnight and find myself awake on the hour every hour. I bag work, stay in bed all day, finally getting out of bed at 4 pm, having had no food or drink in 16 plus hours made me a bit sluggish, had a odwalla bar, banana and some cereal, with some lemonade, went back to bed at 10, woke up at 7:30 am today and feel 100% again.

I have no idea what it was, but i am bagging Lava, in order to not put myself in a hole.

The new uni's look nice, besides the sponsors, only a few changes, the jackets are going to be great, since the weather is now in the 90's. At least i didn't have to pee in a cup this am, hell i couldn't of peed anyways. Maybe this is really Sly's secret to weight loss, 24 hours little or no food.

5 Mile

Uh, ouchy that one hurt, the last lap was a killer, 2nd to last place, yeaaaahhhhhhh.

Highlights of the day,

1. 2nd lap riding with Ty, KDay and Rob Westerman after Yellow Page hill, we had a good pace line going up the gradual climb and we flew on the DH, Ty and K-Day then dropped us and Rob and I rode together threw a bit of the third lap, where i began to fade.
2. Rich Abbott Killed it, again
3. It didn't rain

I looked at my schedule, and this was a c category race, no excuses, but i have had a big training block before this. I am blown, i have to do 2.5 Sunday, it'll be on the road bike, on a flat ride, cause i am so done.

The Stans wheels rocked it pretty good. I got some brake rubby going on, yeah that must be why I went so slow.

Thanks to Meg for feeding me.

Lyna got 6th in SPort Women, in particular, the revolution women rocked hard.

Here is my HR profile, nice drop off there Bobby

Fa la la la la, la la la la

Today was a sweet day on the shoreline, not too many people and a nice easy effort on my after work shoreline loopy. My legs feel good, hope for rain Thursday to pack down some of 5 mile.

Rode the new wheels tonight. They dropped weight on the bike, just no idea how much.

Lots of people in baggies on the trail, funny, none of them heckled me and I didn't heckle them, it is a lovely world.

Intervals tomorrow night, maybe some one will make me mad so I can get some good ones in :)

You really gotta pay attention in road races

I thought we were at the top of the first climb, i took a drink, let off a bit and saw the group go away, oops. That was 6 miles into a 60 mile race. I chased, and chased and chased, got in a group of 3, we were within like 20-30 seconds of the group and closing when the other 2 popped, I then chased and chased solo at about mile 33 of 60 I gave up, in out, and just survived to the finish. I am thinking i was the only one who listened tot eh official say that we should not latch onto to any other group. I had many many chances, I am sure i saw the 2 I was chasing with go by in the 45+ group. Then the 4's came by, me right before the climb out of Henefer, then the 5's came by on the descent to the resort.

I had a really good workout though.

To the guy's on fixies who heckled me tonight...

I said 'I like your costume to' back to you, while flipping you the bird, followed by 'Smoke up, lung boy!'

What I meant to say was;

Well nice unique anti establishment lifestyle, Riding a fixed gear bike, no helmet, shaggy hair and torn up jeans. I mean that shit is so original. It is not like I didn't dress like that in 1983 for gods sakes. I mean you are so cool calling me out for wearing my team kit. A team that has 80+ people on it, who as a result of our sponsors gets deals and enjoyment.

I mean that whole messenger thing is so original, punk rock and cool. I mean, hell if Jessica Simpson is into to it, damn it must be.

I bet you have a DK tattoo on your butt cheek, cause you're so punk rock.

I bet you and your hip buddies sit around and talk about the 'meaning' of Holiday in Cambodia. I mean it is about taking a trip and doing some hashish and heroine while seeing the ancient temples Ankor Wat.

But thanks for giving me enough impetus to pedal angry and get some good intervals in. Cause it helps me to know that what I pay into medicare will go to good use for your hospice nurse when your lungs fall completely apart from that fly ass cigarette. Cause i don't want people to suffer.

Yep that is what i meant to say.

Damn, i must of had a bad day, that shit pissed me off, but now i feel much better.

So I chose my wording incorrectly

I changed firestorm to a breakout of wadded up panties. Sorry for the previous exaggeration. :) I'll be there with bells on, or maybe a skort, haven't decided yet.

Oh yeah anon, the cycleutah site only has a few wadded up panties, the google group has more.

Tonight Ty and I held a clinic for Team Revolution Peak Fasteners, I did 8x30 second efforts up corner canyon road first. About 10 team members showed up and we did a few repetitive motion drills for cornering, started on flat pavement and then went up and did it on the Downhill Dirt road. Everyone learned something or tried something new. Nice quick focussed clinic.

Next time we will add some switchbacks and rocky descents.

I must say that I respect the road racing community, i love riding, training and racing with you, i just do not understand how a race that has clearly stated limits can be taken to task. I have seen some pretty mean things written about the promoter, Who out there is willing to step up and make it better, instead of complain, take positive action, you may actually be happier as a result.

Ed C. You spoil us, really you do.

Oh yeah, Utahmntbiker has a nice comparison, maybe a lottery next year will help people unwad said panties, oh yeah 5 mile sunday, time TBD
