ZING

What is it?

For me it is that feeling of having good legs for the race/ride. Last Sunday at the Brian Head national, prior to the flat tires, I had no ZING. Saturday riding the cross monster on the shoreline and around town, I had ZING. Sunday riding the Scalpel on the same trails I had no ZING.

Funny thing about ZING is that it is only slightly faster than no ZING. But it feels good. ZING is the feeling you want on race day. No ZING is the feeling I don't want on race day.

I would rather have ZING and come in 5th place than have no ZING and come in first. ZING is happy. No ZING is sad.

I always referred to it as "having someone else's legs". Maybe those were yours I had?

Rode the crest loop from PC yesterday. My legs are zingless today.

When I have zing, I go off the front, blow up, and place crappy. When I have no zing, I sit in the pack, and place better. Zing in a MTB race is pure Zen!

Simple answer Bobman. Cross bike = Zing. I've had several zinging rides with the cross bike on trails the last few weeks.

Where would one find this "zing?" Can "zing" be purchased, traded for or aquired in other ways besides actually riding? Please let me know. CX season is fast approaching and I would like to aquire said "zing."
